COLNE VALLEY RIDING CLUB
Autumn bulletin 2008
Following the excitement and drying off after the BRC Nationals at Lincoln – well done and thank you to our team members and supporters…..
The Committee has been very busy (as usual!) lately, to bring you the Lynn Perry Flatwork Clinics, Cross Country Clinic, Social Evening, Members and Friends Showjumping, the Dressage Competition and of course the phenomenally successful Clear Round Cross Country day. We hope that members have enjoyed these activities and events and would appreciate any feedback on any of these – did you accomplish a more stylish cross country round following the clinic at Peartree Farm, or how did your showjumping go? Seriously, we’d love to hear about your CVRC “experiences”, what is going well, what could be done better and how could we help and encourage you…..
Which brings us nicely to..
· AGM 14th November, Orpen Hall, West Bergholt – a very important event in the planning for the future of Colne Valley Riding Club. Nomination forms for new Committee Members are enclosed. Now that we are an established local Riding Club, the Committee really feel that what is needed at this time is some dialogue and direction from our membership. When the club was established, the mission was “Encouragement with Enjoyment”, and although a hard core of members and Committee members regularly attend our activities, there are still those of you out there who we don’t often see or hear from. We would seriously appreciate knowing at this stage whether we are getting things right, so please attend the AGM and don’t be afraid to make suggestions or challenge us. Do you feel we are becoming too competitively biased, do you think there are not enough activities for the everyday rider, are there things which you would like us to do which we are not doing? The whole of the Committee is ready to adapt and change with our membership, and we have every intention of listening and working with you to steer the club in the direction you want us to go. If you can’t attend (tea and biccies, go on, go on, go on?) then please contact someone on the Committee to talk through your views and ideas.
Most Committee members will be “modelling” the new CVRC Clothing on the night – polo shirts, bomber jackets and suchlike – orders can be taken on the night (see Clare).
Our coveted trophies will be presented at the AGM, and there are sure to be a few pleasant surprises in relation to this year’s winners. We are also thinking about how we will in the future recognise and show our appreciation for those who support us, both by competing in teams or helping on the ground, which is a discussion forum that I am sure many members would want to participate
Louise Allen, who is the most knowledgeable person we know, in relation to rules and regulations for vaccination certificates, will be on hand to advise any team members or potential about these. Bring along your horse’s certificate and Louise will advise whether it passes muster for an Area or National Riding Club Competition.
Autumn to Winter News and Events…

Shall we do the same again this year, come to the AGM and let us know or speak to someone on the Committee. We are flexible – let us know if you are interested in doing the same or are open to any suggestions for this year.
