SUMMER CAMP 2010

**NEW VENUE THIS YEAR**

FOREST EDGE ARENA, DRYMERE, SWAFFHAM. PE37 8AS (www.forestedgearena.com)

Friday 23 to Sunday 25 July 2010

Following the success of the previous 3 years in Suffolk we have this year decided to venture into Norfolk. We will be including all the favourite activities which we have enjoyed in the past but this year there will be a few added extras and a venue to enjoy that is second to none!

To give you a better idea of the setting since it is a change to our previous location, here are a few more details of the venue:

Forest Edge is set in the heart of Breckland, bordering Thetford Forest (hence the name!) and offers miles of off road hacking. The Centre is efficiently run by Penny and Steve Garrett who have practically rebuilt all the facilities making it a perfect setting for Camp.

The varied programme of events will begin the afternoon of the first day. Making full use of the superb arena we will be starting with a flat work session (to get us all going nicely)! Our evening meal will be followed by a short taster of the delights of the next day.

After breakfast on Saturday we will begin the day with Show jumping lessons and later, a new innovation for Colne Valley, a Le Trec demo by a qualified instructor and a “have a go” session for us. This is a great chance to find out about this new, fun and exciting event that really seems to be taking off and what better place to try it out. A barbeque and quiz will round off Day 2.

On Sunday morning, there will be a cross-country session with instruction, an optional dressage competition and of course the chance for a last hack before leaving for home.

Between the organised sessions, or instead of if you prefer, the surrounding countryside and forest is waiting to be explored. If you or your horse are unsure about hacking out, but would like to have a go, let us know in advance so we can try to send you out with a more experienced happy hacker.

You will need to bring your own tent, horsebox or caravan to sleep in and food for your horse. Mucking out equipment will also be required. Hay, shavings and straw can be provided at extra cost or you can bring your own. Travel time from Colchester is approximately 1hr 45mins.

The cost of the 3-day, 2 night camp per horse/rider is £180. This includes stabling, 3 meals per day (for riders) and some very exciting welcome “goody bags.”

At this camp we hope to cater for all levels of capability and experience. All our lessons will be taken by qualified and friendly instructors, and we will aim to arrange groups according to ability - please let us know if you are a little nervous or particularly brave! We aim to give everyone the opportunity to “have a go” at activities in a relaxed and safe environment, some of which we may not otherwise try. Most of all it is a time to have a break with your horse and have fun with like minded people. We hope to see you there!
