Out and about!!

The season is well underway and members are making the most of the better weather and good going…

  • The Members Showjumping held at Wix on 26th May was greatly enjoyed by those who attended, but it was definitely in the “small and friendly” category. Thanks are due to Addie and organising team and course builders. We have noticed that we are not big on jumping generally as a club and we would love to know why… are we considered to be more of a dressage crew? Would people have a go if given further opportunities for training, or do people feel that they need more encouragement to try for teams? We’d really love to find out what you think and we do listen. Suggestions to any Committee member, but anyone who asks for contribution to cost of purchase of Shutterfly will know what the answer will be!!

  • Well done to all team members who went to Thorne Court for Area Riding Tests and Combined Training/ Style Jumping. Weather was once again ‘orrid but the stalwart CVRC all purpose helpers gave up their time to make things happen in spite of being soaked through…again. Results are on our website.

  • Entries were a bit down for the Dressage Competition 10th June at Wix but we put it down to it being exam time/ holidays and the “fatty & footy” season (anyone who has ever had a horse or pony who has suffered laminitis or dodgy feet generally in the spring in summer will know what we mean). Standard was very good and everyone had fun, results are enclosed with this bulletin. Very many thanks to Vanessa for organising and all scorers, writers and helpers.

  • The highest accolade goes to Catherine Raffe and Billy Boy – Cob Winner and Reserve Champion at Festival of the Hunter; as seen in Horse and Hound! Congratulations also to Victoria Littlewood and Mosstown Marz who had a good show and were placed in the Lightweight Hunter and Working Hunter classes.

  • Members Addie Ackers and Lucy Browning-Smith both took part in Stratford Hills Horse Trials. Both girls and their horses went well, not sure what the exact placings were, and it’s great as a “CVRC” spectator to follow and support members who are running. Well done!
