Colne Valley Riding Club would like to remind our members & visitors to be extra-vigilant as once again we seem to have a spate of trailer & horsebox thefts springing up in our local & surrounding area. Our friends at Suffolk Riding Club have just sent this message regarding one such incident:
A blue Ifor Williams Trailer was stolen last night (August 8th) from a yard at Stonham near the A140 x/roads.
They sawed through a chain on the gate and because the trailer they were stealing did not have a partition- they took the one from next door.

We were also recently informed of a horsebox theft from Little Bentley which took place in July. This case was particularly concerning as it would appear that the premises from which it was stolen had been watched. The owner had gone out for just one hour at lunchtime & returned to find the horsebox missing. Not only that, but as they were due to make an early start the following morning to spend 3 days at a major show, the 'box was packed full of tack, rugs, clothing & anything else that would be needed for their trip. As far as we are aware, neither the lorry or its contents have been recovered.
Please take care to secure your trailer or lorry as best you can; never leave it unlocked & think twice before leaving your tack or other valuable items inside. May we also remind you to please report anything suspicious, however insignificant it may appear.
