CVRC is affiliated to British Riding Clubs who arrange a variety of events for Clubs throughout the year, these are divided into Winter and Summer seasons.
BRC qualifying events are held regionally, and for teams and individuals who qualify, culminate in a series of seven Championships which are spread throughout the country. Our club is part of Area 14 and consequently our qualifiers are mostly held in Essex, Suffolk or Norfolk.
Events range from Introductory level dressage all the way up to Advanced Medium and 70cm show jumping up to 110cm. The following lists the events and Championships which are normally held during the year.
Winter Season :-
Novice Winter Championships comprising Showjumping and Dressage
Intermediate Winter Championships Showjumping and Dressage
Summer Season: –
National Championships – Showjumping and Dressage
Dressage to Music Championships (incorporating Quadrille Selection Trials)
Over the years CVRC have enjoyed some memorable days at wonderful venues. We have competed successfully, having qualified for BRC Championships several times. Being part of a team or even competing individually can be a great experience and CVRC are renowned for encouraging our Members to work towards and take part in the team events. On occasions it is possible to form an “Area Only Team” which can take part in exactly the same way but who are not eligible for Championships. This is often a good starting point for those new to area competitions.
It is most important when considering taking part in Area events for the first time to discuss the process, your level and aspirations with the Team Manager who will be appointed for each event. Entries for these competitions are made by the Team Manager on the Club’s behalf, however, entry fees are paid by the competitor. Should a team or individual qualify for Championships, the Club does subsidise those entry fees and any stabling costs should they be required. Members need to be prepared to travel, often some distance, to the venue.
There are a plethora of rules, regulations and guidelines for BRC events and eligibility for the qualifiers varies depending on each class, however, all members are eligible to enter at some level. Horse passport numbers will be required and Equine ‘Flu vaccination records all need to be correct and comply with BRC rules. Horses must be microchipped. CVRC are committed to encourage our members to compete at Area level if they so wish. Training clinics are arranged on a regular basis which enable combinations to practice and work towards their chosen events.
